Story
Mameda Hitoko is participating in a 2 day 1 night climbing tour of Mt Fuji. Led by the guide Nozawa Ryoichi, she heads for the summit with Kondo Shintaro, Aoyama Someno and Mitsuke Ai. Each person appears to be seeking salvation from the regrettable past and feelings of guilt that he or she has. When Someno casually looks over her shoulder, Hitoko is crouching down with her hands covering her face. Ryoichi and the others call out to her and she comes back to her senses. Hitoko realises that as she was enveloped by a thick fog, her gait unsteady and her mind in a stupor, she had seen the figure of her only daughter Natsuki … … “I walked forward and saw a faint figure. I was enveloped in thick fog, my steps sank as if I were walking on sand. Although the figure was walking very slowly, I just couldn’t catch up. And another figure easily overtook it. It was a small figure. I recognised something in the expression I could faintly see in the fog. The moment I took a step in my attempt to get closer, the small figure vanished and I fell to my knees …”

Sakai Maki/Okumori Satsuki as Mameda Hitoko
She split up with her husband. A single mother who is raising their only daughter Natsuki. She holds multiple jobs as she desperately supports their lives.

Iura Arata/Sugawara Reo as Nozawa Ryoichi
A company employee who lives in Tokyo. He came to Tokyo from Oshima. He is tormented by the memory of an accident that occurred during his elementary school days 25 years ago, and is extremely fearful of the dark.

Nagase Masatoshi/Ohashi Ritsu as Sato Makoto
A photographer who has returned to Japan from a wandering existence overseas. He invites former Oshima classmates Ryoichi, Rie and Masanori who share the same horrible past to his photography exhibition in Tokyo.

Miyazaki Masaru as Iwabuchi Keigo
A company employee leading a disenchanted married life. He storms out of the house because of a tiff with his wife Shizue and ends up contacting a former girlfriend.

Mitsushima Hikari as Nomiya Sakumi
Five years ago, her boyfriend Iwabuchi Keigo suddenly told her he was leaving her and had a mental breakdown. She soon stepped into the inner world which Keigo committed her to at that time.

Fujimura Shiho/Sakurada Hiyori as Nomura Yaeko
Mameda Hitoko’s grandmother. Although she took care and brought up Hitoko in her early childhood, she cannot tell Hitoko the true reason why her mother Fumie left home.
