Story
A new Special Investigations Team has been set up under Shinjuku Central Police Precinct’s Criminal Affairs Division in order to deal with the crimes. Detectives Yamashita Shunsuke and Tashiro Keiichi suddenly get orders to transfer from the respective precincts one day. They have been assigned to this Special Investigations Team. Shinjuku Central Police Precinct is said to be the country’s busiest and toughest due to the frequency of a wide variety of violent crimes including murders, robberies, rapes, abductions, hostage-takings in the jurisdiction. The team is called “Zero Section” because it was formed with the help of the police chief whose favourite phrase is “Reexamine everything from ground zero.” On the other hand, there are also rumours that it was only created so the police chief can show the outside world that the police is making an effort. Therefore, the expectations are zero … … Yamashita senses that he and Tashiro have met somewhere, but is not able to recall. The two men who have opposing opinions on many things but are united in their belief in justice, end up becoming partners. Just then, three successive bomb attacks take place within the precinct. Yamashita and Tashiro join the investigation. There is no connection between locations that were targetted or clues tied to the criminal. While making enquiries, Yamashia sees a magazine article and realises that there is a close connection between the criminal act, which was perceived to be indiscriminate until now, and ramen shop rankings.

Ito Hideaki as Yamashita Shunsuke
A detective of the Criminal Affairs Division’s Special Investigations Team, Shinjuku Chuo Police Precinct. He is upbeat and cheerful. To put it another way, he is a rather carefree personality. He completely oblivious to everything around him, and says what is on his mind. He hates rules as well as what is said and done in public. He is a man who acts on his own terms. Although he has met Tashiro Keiichi previously, he cannot quite recall.
Sakaguchi Kenji as Tashiro Keiichi
A detective of the Criminal Affairs Division’s Special Investigations Team, Shinjuku Chuo Police Precinct. A detective with a strong sense of duty, compassion and enthusiasm. Contrary to his wild appearance, he is more of a cautious person. Although he challenges the happy-go-lucky Yamashita Shunsuke, he has great faith in him. The head of the Criminal Affairs Division’s Special Investigations Team, Shinjuku Chuo Police Precinct. A detectiive who worked his way up the ranks. Although he gives loud pep talks to Yamashita Shunsuke and the rest, he protects them to the very end. He has a mild-mannered nature, but would be non-commital even as he battles with the top brass, and lets Yamashita, Tashiro have full control.
Hashizume Isao as Maekawa Seiichi
The chief of Shinjuku Chuo Police Precinct. He appears to place the most emphasis on prestige and honour. But on the other hand, he also seems to have expectations of Yamashita and the rest of the Special Investigations Team. He is not easy to read.
