Story
Akatsuka Fujio is a talented gag manga artist who draws manga with his assistants and editor as if to amuse himself. However, his personal life is more absurd than his manga world. Fujio fools around at drinking establishments at night. His continuous affairs result in divorce with his wife Tomoko who had shared good and bad times with him. He then moves out and leaves her and their daughter Rieko behind. Time passes and a grown-up Rieko meets Fujio again. She and her mother take a fancy to Machiko who has a great love for Fujio. The two of them work out a strategy to make Machiko and Fujio get married. The media is surprised by the attendance of both his ex-wife and daughter at this press conference. His new wife and ex-wife get along well and he builds a unique “family” that even travels with Tomoko’s second husband.

Tamayama Tetsuji as Akatsuka Fujio
A talented gag manga artist whose work as well as real life were absurd. He stuck out in the world of manga and was active in television and theatre. A thoughtful and caring person who loves seeing people’s happy faces. On the other hand, he drinks heavily, cannot help himself when it comes to women and is also a useless father who keeps acting absurdly.
Higa Manami as Akatsuka Machiko
Akatsuka Fujio’s second wife. Although she is at the mercy of Fujio’s absurdity, she watches over him like a mother. She supports Fujio together with his ex-wife Tomoko. She is like a second mother and elder sister to his daughter Rieko.
Hasegawa Kyoko as Akatsuka Tomoko
Akatsuka Fujio’s first wife and Rieko’s mother. Her sense of comedy is as much as Fujio’s. She shared good and bad times with him since young, but they divorced because of a minor disagreement.
Morikawa Aoi as Akatsuka Rieko
Akatsuka Fujio’s only daughter. She has a complicated mix of feelings of disappointment and respect for her father, but grows up supported by this unique family and friends.
Baba Toru as Kitan
Akatsuka Tomoko’s second husband and Rieko’s new father. A rare person of common sense in the Akatsuka family. He deeply loves Tomoko, respects Fujio and watches out for Rieko.
Asaka Kodai as Yokoi Takashi
Akatsuka Fujio’s editor in charge. He has always been with Fujio for both work and play since he was a rookie editor. It is not too much to say that his youth was with Fujio.
