Story
Fujitani Wakaba watched Fukui Chuo High School’s JETS cheerleading team win its first US championship when she was a little girl. Captivated by their performance, she dreamed of joining the same cheerleading team and winning the US championship. However, her older sister Aoi was the one who fulfilled this dream. Wakaba has always been compared to her perfect sister who is beautiful and good at everything, and feels inferior to her. At some point, she comes to think that her beloved cheerleading is impossible. Wakaba fails to qualify for Fukui Chuo High School which is the home of the JETS. She enrolls in a neighbouring town’s Fukui Nishi High School which is mediocre in both studies and sports and goes through high school life cheering at games as a member of its tiny and weak cheerleading squad. One summer during her second year of high school, Kiryu Shiori, a pretty student who transferred from Tokyo, unexpectedly speaks to her about forming a cheerleading team together. At first, Wakaba finds the pushy Shiori a nuisance. However, Shiori’s enthusiasm for cheerleading soon rekindles her passion and they swing into action to form a team. However, their class representative Sakurazawa Asako does not think highly of a cheerleading team. They are given the cold treatment and told that there must be at least eight people excluding the advisor to form a team. So Wakaba and Shiori write and distribute flyers to invite schoolmates with dancing experience and good coordination to pursue the impossible dream to “Defeat JETS. Conquer Japan!” One day, Wakaba hears her sister talk to their parents about some decision she has made. Upset with Aoi’s decision, Wakaba also makes a decision and visits Tomonaga Hikari, the coach of the JETS. Meanwhile, Urushido Taro, a teacher, is assigned to Fukui Nishi High School. He encountered a setback due to an incident at his previous school and had to take leave of absence for some time. However, he is summoned by Fukui Nishi High School’s principal Gamo Komako and returns to work. She proposes something to him … …
