Synopsis: Fukamachi Jotaro (Terao Akira), a middle aged private investigator, still has affection for his ex-wife who got fed up and left him. He is practically a jack of all trades in the jobs he takes on and constantly short on funds because he is only able to earn a small fee. One day, Fukamachi visits a church and makes a confession to a priest. There is a microphone tucked in his suit. His beautiful landlady Sugimoto Reiko (Sato Eriko) is listening to their voices outside the church. Hired by someone to investigate a woman called Kanzaki Hatsune for infidelity, Fukamachi had learned that Domon Yasuo, a top member of Kurosaki-kai, is her lover and obtained information that Domon is a priest. He tries to address the priest … … On the other hand, Inspector Gotoda Masaharu (Takenaka Naoto) is also pursuing Domon in another case. Gotoda who always uses Fukamachi to solve his investigations, asks him about Domon. Then Fukamachi gets a phone call from his client Serizawa Rikako (Otsuka Nene) whose full identity is still unknown. Rikako has read the report he sent and asks him to continue with the investigation. Fukamachi is curious about Rikako who will not disclose her identity. At the big hotel chain Serizawa H&R the next day, there is disagreement between the managing director Sakaki Kensaku (Kunihiro Tomiyuki) and Rikako, the vice president, regarding the approach to determine the next president. Sakaki proposes that this be decided at a shareholders’ meeting, but Rikako insists on the board of directors’ meeting because there are corporate racketeers. Wanting to block this, Sakaki speaks of the rumours about Rikako’s daughter, Yuki (Okamoto Azusa). “She is not the child of the late president?” he probes. That night, Yuki is attacked by a man while on her way home from work. Meanwhile, Fukamachi is in a quandry over whether to continue with the investigation when Rikako arrives at his office. Because her voice is the same as the voice over the phone, he realises that she is his client. As Rikako hands over her namecard to Fukamachi she asks if he does not know her. When she tells him that her maiden name is Oba, it occurs to him that she is an old friend. Rikako talks about a document that was delivered to her. It said “Managing Director Sakaki committed a serious criminal act as the leader in the development of the Rokkosan Resort 20 years ago. Takeda Ryoichi.” Rikako who has doubts about Sakaki, wants Fukamachi to be Yuki’s bodyguard until the next president is decided at the upcoming board meeting. Fukamachi tries to refuse. Being a bodyguard is outside his area of expertise. But Rikako says this is a responsibility he should fulfil. When Fukamachi asks what this responsibility is, she replies, “Because you are Yuki’s real father” … …
