Synopsis: A grisly murder occurs in an exclusive neighbourhood in Tokyo. The victim is Yoko (Natsukawa Yui), the wife of Kakurai Kazuki (Watanabe Ken), a top surgeon who works for a university hospital. That night, Kakurai had taken Yoko to attend his former teacher Sawamura Hachiro’s (Yamamoto Gaku) party with his university schoolmates Miyajima Mitsuhiko (Sugimoto Tetta) and Ishimori Suguru (Murata Takehiro). However, he was asked to perform an emergency surgery and Yoko went home first. When he returned home late in the night after finishing the operation, he found that his housekeeper on the first floor and his wife in the bedroom on the second floor had died after being stabbed in the chest with a knife. As Kakurai reels from the shock of the unexpected turn of events, he discovers a man fleeing the scene. They scuffled on the stairs and he blacked out after he was struck on the head. However, Asano Kazushi (Sasai Eisuke) and other detectives from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigation Department conclude that Kakurai missed a step on the stairs and lost consciousness in his attempt to escape after killing the two of them. Kakurai realised during his struggle with the man that the murderer’s left arm is an artificial arm and brings this to the attention of the police. But his claim is dismissed because there are no signs of intrusion at the scene. He is arrested and later sentenced to death which plunges him to the depths of despair. Kakurai ends up being transported from Tokyo to a prison in Nagoya. However, the accomplices of Shimaoka Masahiko (Amano Yoshihisa), the mastermind of a bomb attack who is on board the same prisoner transport bus, ambushes the vehicle in the mountains. It overturns and bursts into flames. Kakurai narrowly escapes and is forced to make a decision. Should he remain or should he run …!? The next moment, Yoko’s face comes to mind and he vanishes into the deep forest. A special search team, that was just formed for the scene of the attack, arrives shortly. The team leader Hosaka Masami (Toyokawa Etsushi) captures Shimaoka’s group using extreme measures that shock his subordinates Kamoi Wataru (Miura Shohei) and Kashiwagi Yayoi (Hara Sachie). Then they focus on the next target and launch a search for him. At that moment, Kakurai is enduring the pain from an abdomen injury that he sustained when he escaped and begins life on the run as a fugitive.
