Story
The retro coffee shop ‘Kohiya’ stands inconspicuously in a shopping street in Tokyo’s old working class neighbourhood. It is a place where regulars gather to relax. Their problems and troubles are brought to this shop every day, and drama takes place. The coffee which the cafe’s owner Soda Kosuke puts his heart into, is a miraculous cup which has the power to make these people come to grips with their daily problems and troubles, and the heart happy. Kosuke himself grieves the death of his father and has an unforgivable past. He murdered someone. Believing in the words of his late father that “a cup of coffee can change lives”, he continues to make coffee. There is a constant stream of regulars that demand his shot of coffee. One day, a woman appears before Kosuke at the coffee shop. Identifying herself as Fuyuko, she tells the regulars that she “just had a sudden desire to drink coffee”, but she stares at Kosuke as if she is scrutinising him and drinks out of the cup. Fuyuko visits frequently, only to drink his delicious coffee. Kosuke gradually grows interested in her, but that is the start of a love that should never cross. In truth, Kosuke and Fuyuko have a deep connection … …
