Synopsis: It is the winter of 2014. Roused into action by the Abenomics boom, Shirai Miho (Katase Rino) starts an investment consultancy. She recommends shares to a female owner (Asaoka Yukiji) and mentions the proprietress of a Japanese restaurant who was 2 trillion yen in debt during the bubble era. Miho’s mind drifts back to those years. In 1981, Hasumi Megumi (Watanabe Eri) who had worked for a Japanese restaurant, now has a restaurant of her own through the support of the wealthy customers she had ingratiated herself with. Kaminaga Yosuke (Kitamura Yukiya), the head of Chuo Bank’s Loans Division, comes and proposes that Megumi set up her restaurant in a better place. By 1984, Megumi has borrowed 650 million yen from the bank, constructed a building and established the restaurant, Hasumi. Her mother Tomi (Fuji Manami) comes out from the Yamagata countryside to ask her for money. Meanwhile, Shirai Miho (Shinoda Mariko) who has seen the notice “Recruiting waitresses”, knocks on the door of Hasumi, and is hired. Miho says that she has never seen shares before, but brings up the subject of an acquaintance who had profited from shares, and Megumi made an enormous profit from some shares. Megumi is besieged by bankers. Making a show of the psychic ability that she is proud of, Megumi recites an incantation before the figurine of a toad in the restaurant’s indoor garden and decides to transact in shares as told by Miho. Hamaguchi Masahisa (Nishimura Masahiko) of Shinkin Bank comes to make a courtesy call. At a later date, Megumi and Miho go over to Hamaguchi’s Shinkin Bank to open bank accounts with 1 billion yen deposits under fictitious names.
