Synopsis
Radiographer Igarashi Iori believes the “truth” is always captured in CT and MRI images and his talent is recognised by America’s leading radiologist Professor Pierce. Iori was hired by Amakasu General Hospital where Amakasu An, his childhood friend whom he has always liked, works as a radiologist. He also possesses a medical licence and demonstrated his talent in reading radiograms, saving countless lives together with the Radiation House members. After receiving an invitation from Professor Pierce to participate in a project to develop radiographic image interpretation software using AI technology, Iori decided to go to the US. An told him to come back, vowing that she would become such an outstanding radiologist that he would not be able to interfere. Two years later, Iori returns to Japan after wrapping up the first phase of the project, hoping to return to Amakasu General Hospital. However, the new hospital director Haijima Masato, who took over from Omori Nagisa, has rationalised the hospital’s operations. He deems radiologists unessential staff and outsources the analysis and interpretation of radiograms. As a result, Radiation House is scaled down and Kurohane Tamaki, Nokishita Goro, Ino Kei and Yuki Rin resign and switch hospitals. One day, a violinist collapses during a recital and Haijima, who was in the audience, rushes her to Amakasu General Hospital. At the same time, Iori visits An’s father and learns that she is no longer at the hospital. An is on her way back from work when she encounters a pregnant woman who seems to be suffering from stomach pain. This woman is the daughter of Kikujima Toru, an international photographer whose life they had previously saved. Iori shows up … …
Characters
Kubota Masataka as Igarashi Iori
A radiographer who believes the “truth” will always be captured in CT and MRI images. Although he possesses a medical licence to be a radiologist, he works as a radiographer in order to keep a promise with his childhood friend Amakasu An. After studying in the US for two years, he returns to work at Amakasu General Hospital. He still loves An but in stark contrast to his work, he has no hope of making progress in romance.
Honda Tsubasa as Amakasu An
Igarashi Iori’s childhood friend. A radiologist. She has been working at Amakasu General Hospital where her father had been the hospital director. She feels guilty for making a promise to Iori two years ago that she would become an outstanding radiologist.
Hirose Alice as Hirose Hirono
A radiographer at Amakasu General Hospital. She joined the team as a new member but initially kept making mistakes because she is at a loss. However, she gradually improved through hard work and is now a full-fledged radiographer. She secretly has feelings for Igarashi Iori.
Suzuki Nobuyuki as Tsujimura Shuntaro
An orthopaedic surgeon from a well-to-do family. His father is a professor at a major university hospital. Although he looks down on radiographers, he comes to respect Igarashi Iori and the team after watching them at work. He likes Amakasu An and is Iori’s rival in love.
Endo Kenichi as Onodera Toshio
Amakasu General Hospital’s chief radiographer. He may look typically scruffy. However, he has great pride in his work and his skills as a veteran radiographer are truly top-notch. Alcohol and gambling are the great love of his life. He cares for his subordinates and would not hesitate to take one for the team.
Takashima Masahiro as Haijima Masato
Amakasu General Hospital’s new hospital director. A cold-blooded man whose first priority is to rationalise the hospital’s operations while the wishes and feelings of the staff who work at the hospital are secondary. He attempts to eliminate all things that are not essential to running a hospital. This rationalisation causes the members of Radiation House to split up.
Wakui Emi as Omori Nagisa
The former hospital director of Amakasu General Hospital. She understands Igarashi Iori and the members of Radiation House well and is also Amakasu An’s mentor. She hitched the warring internal medicine and surgical departments together for a heart transcatheter aortic valve implant, forming a hospital-wide heart team that succeeded in a difficult surgery.
