Miki gets in touch with Shingai but has her cover blown and is rescued from danger by Kuraki. Learning that Miki had hidden the existence of Shingai’s younger sister, Kuraki presses her to tell him everything this time.
So Kuraki, Osugi and Miki meet at the unpopular document archive room. Miki tells the two men information about Shingai – his distinctive style of killing, how he never leaves evidence behind, and that he did not have time to plant the bomb. However, Kuraki who has had information deliberately hidden from him thus far, points out that if Miki is telling a lie, a completely different situation will manifest. Turbulence is in the air but the gulf between the three of them is clear.
After Miki leaves, Osugi asks Kuraki about the top secret Gulag Alpha mission which Chihiro participated in five years ago. He wonders what happened to her during the mission. Kuraki does not know about it too. This mission which might have had a great influence on her, but Kuraki never once spoke to her about it.
That night, when Kuraki returns home, he notices that one of the drawers of the dresser in the bedroom is locked. Was she hiding something. His wife’s secrets grow. Kuraki lets go of the drawer and gazes at the likeness of himself that himself that his daughter had once drawn. It is cute portrait drawn with a child’s hand. Noticing the irregularity of the paper, Kuraki shades the back of the drawing with a pencil. What emerges is a terrifying possibility.
Kuraki has a new suspicion regarding the bomb explosion and swings into action. However, Muroi rejects this hypothesis.
On the other hand, Shingai contacts Ami whom he met while he was hospitalised and asks her to run a background check on himself. Ami visits the elementary school which Shingai attended and obtains a copy of the graduation yearbook which he was photographed in at that time. She also visis his family home and timidly sets foot inside the dilapidated dark house.
In the midst of this, Nakagami receives dangerous instructions from Higashi, and goes after Kuraki … …
