Synopsis
20 years ago, Inukai Kosuke, a member of the House of Representatives, offered a hand to Washizu Toru who had ended up on the streets. Feeling indebted to Inukai, Toru devoted his life to him as his first secretary. He deftly handles petitions from Inukai’s supporters and crushes potential scandals, always keeping his cool, never showing his emotions and humbling himself to anyone to get what Inukai needs. As a result of Toru’s support, Inukai rose to become the Minister of State for the Cabinet Office although he is treated somewhat frostily by the party’s secretary general Tsurumaki Kenichi, Minister of Health, Welfare and Labour Kamoi Yuko and the Prime Minister Ryuzaki Hajime for triggering public backlash for comments that belittle women. However, all of this suddenly changes when Toru’s son Taiki sustains serious injuries and is on the verge of death. Toru is instructed by Inukai to cover up the shocking incident. After all these years of suppressing himself and putting up with whatever comes his way, Toru feels betrayed. Using his resourcefulness, personal connections and information that he acquired during his long career as a secretary, he pursues the truth about the person who critically injured his son as he plots revenge against Inukai for trying to cover up the incident by wielding his power.
