Synopsis
29-year-old Kagura Ran is a lawyer who once shot to acting fame as a child prodigy. Ran’s close friend Saotome Hana has been charged for murder and she is assigned to defend Hana. However, she loses the case. With her confidence in shambles, Ran vanishes from the legal community and spends her days in self-despair. One day, she finds out that a blog by a lawyer with the same first and last name as hers is going viral. Ran goes to meet the owner of this blog who turns out to be Kurosawa Jin, a talented mystery scriptwriter. He has been recounting a number of cases that he won as Kagura Ran, the lawyer who never loses. Claiming that the blog is his own work, an unapologetic Kurosawa tells Ran that she should change her name. They are interrupted by wedding planner Narimiya Misaki who has come to visit after reading the blog. She has been blamed on social media by an angry couple for the double booking of their wedding ceremony. Once Ran determines that the problem lies with Misaki’s company, Misaki proceeds to sue the company with Ran serving as her attorney. However, Ran loses in the first trial. Just before the second trial, Kurosawa hands Ran a script, telling her to act it out in court. If she follows the script, she should be able to become an unbeatable lawyer and pull off a feat? Ran also tries to clear Hana’s name, and in the process, the mystery of the murder case and Kurosawa’s mystery turn out to be intertwined as the truth is gradually revealed.

Shida Mirai as Kagura Ran
A lawyer who played the lead role in the drama Little Lawyer Coran, and rose to prominence as a child star at a very young age. She has the acting skills and the ability to read people’s feelings from their minute expressions. Her strength is her empathy. As she spent a lot of time surrounded by adults during her childhood, she was precocious as a child. She may have become good at memorising words because of her experience reading scripts. She seeks ways forward for her clients while following the rules and keeping to her convictions as a lawyer. Despite her attempts to fight against the absurdities of the world, she cannot see the way and move forward.
Kazama Shunsuke as Kurosawa Jin
An enigmatic scriptwriter who mainly writes mysteries. He is typically surly and bad at communicating. As he believes there is no justice and feels disappointed with the world, he will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. He frequently has run-ins with the people around him. He does not interact with people anymore and feels distant.
Takahashi Yuto as Rukawa So
A rookie lawyer whose father heads one of the country’s leading law firms. When he was in elementary school, he would watch his father and dream of becoming a lawyer. But now that he is an adult and learns that his father sees the legal profession as a business, he feels disillusioned. He respects Kagura Ran for sticking to her convictions even though she is about to lose her place at the law firm. He has great respect for Ran but does he actually like her romantically too?
Kitano Kii as Saotome Hana
Kugura Ran’s good friend who was also a former child actress. She is married with one son. One day two years ago, she was arrested on suspicion of murder. After that, Ran served as her lawyer but lost the case. She is currently in prison serving a 12-year sentence for murder.
