Synopsis
Tokyo governor Yokomiya Saburo has set his sights on running for a second term. But as the next election draws near, suspicions about his involvement in a project to reclaim Tokyo Bay emerges. Meanwhile, a Maichou Shimbun journalist Watanabe Tatsuya, who has been investigating these allegations, gets an opportunity for an exclusive interview from Yokomiya. However, when he enters the designated hotel room for the interview, Yokomiya’s wife Hiroko is bleeding from the head and collapses. Watanabe is arrested and charged with attempted murder. The prosecutor in charge of this case is the cool-headed Sasaki Yukino, the same person who once put Shitara Kenichi behind bars. Shitara gets the lawyer Sugitani Nahoko to defend Watanabe for a hefty fee. Behind the forces that are trying to get Watanabe falsely charged in connection with the next governor’s race are hints of Hongo Goichi who yet again holds sway over the political and business establishments. Then there are the actions of Shitara’s supposed right-hand man Maruoka Shinnosuke whose secret comes to light. What will Watanabe’s fate be beyond Shitara’s secret manoeuvres.
