Synopsis
23-year-old Sakai Hatsuko is found stabbed to death in a storage area for materials. She ran a local bar and was just scrapping along. 19-year-old Ueda Hiroshi is arrested shortly after on suspicion of murder and illegally disposing the dead body. But he claims that he has no memory of stabbing Hatsuko. The defence of the youth is placed in the hands of the lawyer Kikuchi Daizaburo, a former judge who is haunted by a judgment that he made in the past and turned his back on the “truth”. With Hiroshi’s confession in the bag, it is believed to be a simple trial where the sentence will be delivered quickly. However, the situation completely changes when he denies any intention to kill after being interrogated by the prosecutor Okabe Shono during the trial. In the process of investigating Hiroshi, Kikuchi confronts the “truth” once again. A series of surprising facts are soon revealed in the courtroom, causing confusion among the jurors. Is Hiroshi truly the murderer?
