Synopsis
Housewife Hamaoka Taeko lives with her husband Yoichi but there is no more love between them. Their son Akira has just joined the workforce. Taeko holds a part-time job at a supermarket, and has no hobbies. She and a fellow part-timer Mayumi spend their days complaining about their husbands and sons. In Taeko’s case, Yoichi and Akira look down on her, disdainfully thinking she knows nothing about society. Taeko has also been feeling rather uneasy lately. She always sees a suspicious man when she goes out. This man turns out to be Saijo Hayato from the famous actress Wakana Kinuyo’s management agency. He wants her to impersonate Kinuyo, who disappeared overseas after a weekly magazine revealed her scandal from five years ago, and attend a press conference to address the matter because her face and also voice are strikingly similar to Kinuyo’s. Taeko’s immediate reaction is to turn down this outrageous request. But the big 3 million yen paycheck she would get for standing in for Kinuyo is never far from her mind. She eventually succumbs to Saijo’s persuasion and the monetary reward and meets Higa Riko, the CEO of Kinuyo’s agency, as well as Kinuyo’s husband Mizuta Natsuo on the day of the press conference. Now she has to keep her masquerade a secret from her family while playing the actress feared as a diabolical woman by the people around her.

Wakamura Mayumi as Hamaoka Taeko/Wakana Kinuyo
Hamaoka Taeko: An ordinary housewife who lives with her husband Yoichi and son Akira. She works part time at a supermarket. Her life had revolved around bringing up her son and her part-time job until recently and she has no hobbies. But one day, she is picked to be a stand-in for the missing famous actress Wakana Kinuyo because her face and voice are strikingly similar.
Wakana Kinuyo: A popular veteran actress who belongs to the talent agency Production Manjushage. She has appeared in many movies and dramas. Unlike her onscreen persona, she is terribly self-centred. She is feared as the “devil” by her husband Mizuta Natsuo and her managers. A scandal from a few years ago comes to light but she loathes press conferences for damage control and goes into hiding.

Wakana Kinuyo’s husband. A struggling actor who became financially dependent on her after their marriage. He exudes the air of a playboy. He gently teaches Hamaoka Taeko, who is impersonating Wakana, how to behave as an actress.
Kimura Yoshino as Higa Riko
The CEO of Production Manjushage. She suddenly had to assume the position as CEO after her father, who was the founder, collapsed. Wakana Kinuyo would unleash horrible words at her but she endured Wakana’s behaviour to keep the agency going. She scrambles to fill the huge gap caused by Wakana’s disappearance.
Makita Sports as Hamaoka Yoichi
Hamaoka Taeko’s husband. He works for a printing company. He does not help in household chores and cannot even cook a meal on his own. He does not care about Taeko as a woman and as a wife. At work, he has a hard time dealing with young demanding employees.
Nishimura Masahiko as Yasuhara Mitsuaki
The Deputy CEO of Production Manjushage. He has been supporting Higa Riko who became the CEO. He is a cool and calm person who dangles money at Hamaoka Taeko to press her to make a decision when she hesitates to impersonate Wakana Kinuyo.
