Story
The fancy lawyer Kasahara Takuya comes from behind to win an acquittal for Arimura Hirohito for whom the death penalty had been sought on charges of serial rape and murder. The families of the victims and the mass media take out their fury on Kasahara who lodged Arimura’s innocence even though he clearly had the murderous intent and committed the crimes. Kasahara coolly declares that they should blame the law since the court ruling was based on law. On the other hand, the people’s lawyer Kusunose Masashi has mixed feelings. Unable to forgive Arimura who feels no remorse, Kusunose had given up defending Arimura halfway. At that moment, a fatal allergic accident occurs to Aoba Confectionery which is affiliated with Nikkyo Holdings, a massive enterprise led by Haneda Kenzo. Kasahara is asked by Nikkyo Holdings to take the case. Seeking to win, he starts to corner the plaintiff with every possible means. Matsumoto Shogo, who knows Kasahara’s weak point, shows up and asks for money. Shogo, his younger sister Yasuko and Kasahara are childhood friends who grew up together in an orphanage. It is a past which the rapidly rising Kasahara cannot tell anyone.

Ito Hideaki as Kasahara Takuya
A lawyer of the law firm, Tokyo Asize. He is a fancy lawyer notorious for using any means to win a case. Many people also have an axe to grind with his high-handed way of doing things.

Takito Kenichi as Kusunose Masashi
A lawyer of the law firm, Kusunose. He is a people’s lawyer that places more emphasis on giving a helping hand to someone rather than profits. Because his sense of justice is too strong, he fails at times too. He has confrontations with Kasahara Takuya over difficult cases.

Yoshino Kimura as Matsumoto Yasuko
A doctor who works at a clinic. The younger sister of Matsumoto Shogo. She grew up with Kasahara Takuya at an orphanage and think of each other as special.

Shibukawa Kiyohiko as Matsumoto Shogo
Kasahara Takuya’s childhood friend. He is one of the few people who knows about Kasahara’s past. He has a criminal record and ties with a gang.

Tsutsui Michitaka as Kudo Ichiro
A detective of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division. Some incident leads him to suspect Kasahara Takuya and get close to him. He pursues the cases he is in charge of with tenacity.

Nakadai Tatsuya as Haneda Kenzo
The honorary president of Nikkyo Holdings. A big-shot businessman whom everyone fears. While he is called the “god of restructuring”, he also has the nickname “raider”.

Nakamura Aoi as Hirose Yu
A rookie lawyer with the law firm, Tokyo Asize. Kasahara Takuya’s assistant. He respects Kasahara.

Okunuki Kaoru as Kusunose Tomomi
Kusunose Masashi’s wife and mother of two children. She devotes herself to supporting her husband.

Kitami Toshiyuki as Ogaki Uichi
The representative of Tokyo Asize. He is jealous of Kasahara Takuya, but plots to use Kasahara’s power to expand the firm further.

Matsushige Yutaka as Kamoshita Kazuya
The employee of a detective agency. He is hired by Kasahara Takuya to carry out investigations in secret.
