Synopsis: Yagami Keisuke (Funakoshi Eiichiro) is caught red-handed by the police as a suspect in a series of arson cases. He is deaf and also does not use sign language. The interrogation proceeds with difficulty in the face of his “complete silence”. Abiko Kento (Asari Yosuke), the rookie detective assigned to the case, heads to Yagami’s home to search it. He finds a 7-year-old girl (Watanabe Konomi) in the home where Yagami supposedly lives alone. Who is this child? Yagami has no wife. The girl’s identity is not known. Neither the neighbours nor anyone is aware of her existence. There are no clues. The girl, who has been taken into custody and hospitalised at Sakuragawa University Hospital, is frightened of the outside world and has built an emotional wall. She will not utter a single word too. Kento seeks the assistance of an acquaintance of his older sister, Miori (Kimura Fumino), in the investigation. This person is Narumi Saku (Yamashita Tomohisa), a specialist in psychology and associate professor at Sakuragawa University’s Department of Psychology. Narumi is also Miori’s ex-boyfriend. While sensationalised media coverage sets society abuzz, Narumi takes charge of the girl’s counselling. The girl has lost her memory at some point, and Narumi is more interested in her as a research subject than in assisting in the investigation. The girl starts to open her heart only to Narumi little by little. She gives her name as Nao. Because she likes to draw, when Narumi gives her a sketch book and colouring pencils, she keeps drawing. Her favourite colour is white and her least favourite is red. Narumi believes there is some significance in that. Nao only has memories of the time she lived with Yagami in that house. Those memories are certainly not bitter ones. She also appears worried about how Yagami is now. Narumi gradually finds himself wishing to see Nao’s true smile. On the other hand, the real criminal is located as a result of Narumi’s profiling of the arsonist. However, Yagami continues to keep silent. Neither the police nor Narumi can understand his real intention. At that moment, a woman identifying herself as the girl’s mother suddenly turns up at the police. Her name is Seta Aiko (Hoshino Mari). She confesses something shocking regarding the reason why she did not file a missing person’s report. Nao is not in the family register. Aiko’s first husband was abusive. Although she ran away and did not want to have contact with him, they did not reach a divorce. She soon dated her second husband Konno Minoru (Kimoto Takehiro) and gave birth to Nao without getting legally married. Because Aiko did not want her daughter to join her first husband’s family register, she was not able to register the girl’s birth. Yagami was an employee of the shop she had been running. He had a soft spot for Nao, and Nao is also attached to him. But one day, Yagami suddenly took Nao with him and disappeared … …
