Story
Kawana Tsugumi dreamt of becoming an illustrator when she was a student and promised her father that she would return to Nagano Prefecture once she graduates. She entered a Tokyo university but did not go back to her hometown even after graduation. She now lives with her younger sister Shiori while doing clerical work at an interior design firm. One day, Tsugumi is asked by her superior Azuma Michiyo to represent her at a meeting with an architect firm. This is where she meets her first love and former high school classmate Ayukawa Itsuki. Itsuki is an architect who works for Watanabe Tsuyoshi’s architect firm. Tsugumi’s heart skips a beat at this chance meeting and tells all present about Itsuki’s high school days when he was the captain of the basketball club. She innocently asks “You’re not playing basketball anymore?” and in the next instant, she sees him in a wheelchair and is lost for words. In fact, Itsuki suffered spinal injury while he was in university and can no longer walk. The next day, Itsuki takes a mortified Tsugumi, who had come to his office to apologise for her insensitive remarks, to a park up on a hill. Tsugumi listens to Itsuki’s passion for his work, she realises that apart from his disabilities, he is still the same old Itsuki. One thing leads to another and it is decided that he will go with Tsugumi to an art exhibition that she had intended to attend alone. On the day of the appointment, Koreeda Hirotaka, a former classmate of both Tsugumi and Itsuki, visits Tsugumi’s apartment after she leaves. Hirotaka has had a secret crush on her since high school days and is shocked to hear from Shiori that Tsugumi has gone out with Itsuki. However, at that moment Tsugumi is made to realise the difficulty of an outing in a wheelchair rather than delight in her “date”. She is also disconcerted when she learns that he broke up with Yukimura Miki, his girlfriend since high school, after the accident and has no intention of being romantically involved with anyone again. Itsuki and Tsugumi are attracted to each other. However, they face problems including disapproving parents, the appearance of a love rival and illness as they search for the meaning of happiness.

A registered architect with a first-class licence at Watanabe Architects. He was a top basketball player during high school days but got involved in an accident when he was in his third year in university and became paralysed from waist down due to a spinal cord injury. He broke up with his girlfriend Yukimura Miki and felt despaired of the future. However, with the support of the people around him, he fulfilled his dream of being an architect. Now at the age of 29, he is in charge of designing homes that are free of barriers. He thought that he had given up on romance and basketball, but … …

A clerk in charge of administrative work at the interior design company Cranberries. She meets Ayukawa Itsuki, whom she had a secret crush on when she was a high school student, again by chance. However, she did not have confidence in her own abilities and gave up on the entrance exam.

Even though he gently watches over Tsugumi, he is unable to move past his feelings for her.

Story
Several months after full visibility of every interrogation has been implemented, top officials of each police precinct gather together at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. They are given extreme training to take the edge off the way suspects are treated. However, while they are taking a tour, Kintori’s interrogator Makabe Yukiko furiously shouts at an unrepentant suspect. She ends up being ordered by Kikuchi Reiko, the first female counsellor of criminal investigations at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, to give her full attention to newly appointed trainers and cut back on interrogations for a while. Meanwhile, Nomoto Yudai, who has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for bodily injury resulting in death and disposal of a body, escapes while under police escort. He takes a housewife Fujisawa Saori hostage and holes up in a Japanese-style house. For some reason, Nomoto asks for Reiko to be the negotiator. The case unexpectedly develops into a situation that rocks the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department when Reiko bursts into the house alone and fires at Nomoto to kill him. While the view that she had no choice but to do it in order to save the hostage spreads among the public, the Kintori start Reiko’s interrogation to put the sequence of events of the case on record. Reiko is composed the whole time as the members of Kintori watch. Her statement about the situation at the time Nomoto was killed matches up with Saori’s and it does not appear that she infringed the law governing police officers in the line of duty. However, the reason why she was named as well as short duration from the time she rushed in to the time she fired her gun somehow bother Yukiko and the other members of Kintori. In addition, Reiko fired two shots without a warning shot for some reason … …

Characters
Amami Yuki as Makabe Yukiko
A detective of Kintori of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division. She was the first female head of the SIT. However, she failed in the negotiations with the criminal in a certain case. She was then assigned to the Kintori. She used to be a loner but felt the sense of solidarity in Kintori through investigations and values each team member’s role. She detests crime due to an unsolved case that occurred in the past and approaches interrogations with the belief that she will “strip suspects bare”.

Tanaka Tetsushi as Kajiyama Katsutoshi
The director who presides over Kintori of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s First Investigative Division. He struggles with being tied down by the rank conscious police organisation and web of turf wars, but plots to get ahead in his career. Although he is a non-career officer, he has been promoted time and again because of his ability to make hard-headed decisions and get things done. He is a man who leads his subordinates with decisiveness. He has known Makabe Yukiko well for ages, and had his eye on her expert negotiation skills. He selected her to be a member of Kintori and has immense trust in his team members.

Hayami Mokomichi as Watanabe Tetsuji
A detective of the First Homicide Investigation Section of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s First Investigative Division. He and section head Kenmotsu Daijiro are a team and called Motsunabe Combi by the people around them. A man of superhuman strength who has no sense of fear or subtlety in tactics. He readily obeys anything that his boss Kenmotsu orders. He is an outstanding detective who gets glimpses of his rational side.

Suzuki Kosuke as Kenmotsu Daijiro
The head of the First Homicide Investigation Section of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s First Investigative Division. He is hostile towards Kintori which intercepts the criminals that he and his subordinate Watanabe Tetsuji have arrested. A petty man who is easily flustered. Although he gradually recognises the real ability of the Kintori, his favourite phrase is still “We’re not errand boys”.

Okura Koji as Iwaki Kazuhisa
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s head of criminal investigations. He has made “Open Police” his motto in order to dispel mistrust and criticism of the police due to past injustice. He regards Kajiyama Katsutoshi as a rival and is privately uninterested in the activities of Kintori which Kajiyama leads. However, he takes advantage of them in his attempt to solidify his own position.

Denden as Hishimoto Susumu
A detective of Kintori of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s First Investigative Division. Because the majority of his detective life was devoted to yakuza groups, his appearance as well as his manner of speech is like a yakuza’s. A walking encyclopedia on crime, he is a seasoned and wily professional at nailing criminals with flattery, threats and deals. He used to think female police officers are a hindrance. Now he makes fun of Makabe Yukiko as a “middle-aged woman”, but he recognises her capability.

Kohinata Fumiyo as Koishikawa Haruo
A detective of Kintori of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s First Investigative Division. He is the most intellectual of the team members. Although he is gentle with suspects, he actually corners them with keen insight. He is usually all smiles but no one thinks he is truly smiling. While he may mock and make wisecracks about Makabe Yukiko, he acknowledges her as a capable colleague.

Story
Gorinkan Academy’s Class 2/3 is due to have a new form teacher in the new school term. The students including Akechi Shuhei and Tojo Masayoshi, are gossiping what kind of teacher will come. At the private high school’s opening ceremony for the school term, the new form teacher is introduced but the person is question fails to show up. Just as the students are becoming restless, a cross-dressing middle-aged man in a skirt comes to the stage. This man is Class 2/3’s new form teacher, Harada Nobuo. Harada is a gay cross-dresser. Gorinkan Academy’s principal has brought in Harada who had worked at a gay bar so that students as well as teachers learn about true diversity. He encourages Harada to do as he pleases. Besides being late from the first day, Harada runs along the corridor and sticks to his own pace. The teachers including mathematics teacher Nagai Ayumi and world history teacher Satomi Moe are deeply troubled. Harada enters Class 2/3’s homeroom with assistant form teacher Tanaka Michiru. When he starts to introduce himself, the students mock him. Tojo asks why he is wearing such disgusting clothes, having decided that it is gross for a man to be in women’s wear. Harada responds and proceeds to explain LGBT. The students revolt against him. Tojo and Akechi plot to make Harada quit. Several days later, Harada happens to see one of his students, Wakabayashi Yuma, eating lunch behind the school building. Wakabayashi has trouble interacting with people and always hides his face with a masek. Harada tries to take the mask from him. After that, Wakabayashi causes a commotion in school. He screams, “I’ll make Harada-sensei resign!” and is about to jump of the school’s rooftop. What will Harada do? Outrageous and daring, Mr. Harada uses every ounce of his courage to fight back against the gigantic establishment and opens up the minds of his students.
