Cast: Uchino Masaaki, Kato Masaya, Kinami Haruka, Tamura Ryo, Tsugawa Masahiko
Synopsis: A bid for a vintage Exakta camera is won at a famous New York auction house. Its shabby appearance is incongruous with the winning bid price of 100 million yen. The successful bidder is Mineoka Shuichi (Kato Masaya), a young, hotshot member of the Lower House. Assistant Inspector Mihara Kiichi (Uchino Masaaki) of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department suspects that Mineoka may be connected to a murder that occurred on the shore of Lake Sagami in Kanagawa Prefecture because he has obtained evidence that the victim, Doi Takeo, a reporter for a major newspaper, had been snooping around Mineoka, and Mineoka was seen attending the funeral of the victim whom he must have been hostile to. After Doi met a woman in secret at a hotel near Lake Sagami on the day of the murder, the two of them went for a stroll along the lakeside. However, Doi was found murdered, and the woman vanished. The woman is believed to be a suspect but her whereabouts cannot be traced. Mihara wonders about Mineoka’s involvement, but Mineoka has the perfect alibi. Several hours after Doi was murdered, Mineoka was watching the new year ritual held at Mekari Shrine in his hometown of Kita Kyushu, 1000 km away from Lake Sagami, and captured this on film. It is an alibi that is too perfect. The crime itself is possible when the train and airport schedules are taken into account, but Mineoka is innocent if it is true that he had taken pictures of Mekari Shrine’s ritual. If the camera trick is not discovered, Mineoka’s alibi will not come apart. Mihara rushes to Fukuoka where he joins veteran detective Torikai Jutaro (Tsugawa Masahiko) and starts investigating. Meanwhile, the dead body of a young man is found in Mizuki. In the course of the investigation, a connection between the two cases emerges.
